The Answer - New Horizon (2013)
Napalm Records -- Running Time 36:56

Score: 9/10

I'm going to ask a question before I start this review! Why are Northern Ireland's The Answer not bigger? If anyone can help I would be more than appreciative, because there name should be on everyone's lips. They've been around for over thirteen years, already have three universally praised albums released, 'Rise' (2006), 'Everyday Demons' (2009) and 'Revival' (2011), supported AC/DC, worldwide, on the Black Ice tour for nearly two years and in 'Cormac Neeson' have one of the best Rock singers of the modern era, oh and they are a superb live band!

If fourth album 'New Horizon' (released last September and their first for Napalm Records) which is ten tracks of superb Classic, Hard Rock 'n' Roll, with a modern twist, huge on melody, catchiness and soul, wonderfully produced by Toby Jepson (Little Angels), mixed by Mike Fraser (Rush, Aerosmith, Metallica and AC/DC amongst many others) and with artwork by the late and great Storm Thorgerson doesn't propel them into bigger venues and the general consciousness more then I don't know what they have to do! Fans of Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Thunder, Thin Lizzy, Zeppelin, Cream, Free, Tyketto, Little Angels, Tesla, early Rush and AC/DC should be lapping this band up!

Apart from Neeson, who is on outstanding form 'Paul Mahon' (guitar), Michael Waters (bass) and 'James Heatley' (drums) deliver everything you could wish for! All the tracks come in at around the 3 1/2 minute mark and the band themselves have said that with 'New Horizon' they wanted to reign in any indulgence and just write catchy songs. They've achieved this and rock & metal radio stations everywhere should be playing the shit out of this album!

The Answer aren't original, but then this isn't tired, jaded or old-fashioned either. They play proper rock music for the 21st Century. There are a lot of discussions and arguments going on at the moment about where the new breed of big 'Headline Rock Acts' are going to come from. Well, The Answer are already here everyone and you need to sit up and take notice!!
