It's a good job Matman Randal, Firebomb's vocalist and bassist is one of the nicest guys you are ever likely to meet because I'm sure some bands and artists wouldn't be as happy with how long it's taken me to get around to reviewing this album and I apologise to him and the rest of Firebomb most profusely for that!

Based in Nottingham, UK and only formed in 2012 Firebomb are a three piece Hard Rock/Metal band with a multitude of influences. I hadn't heard of them until they opened the third day of proceedings at Degeneration Fest in 2014 and I was immediately impressed with their simple, but huge sounding riffs and energy on stage! Debut album 'Firebomb', released in 2013, doesn't quite capture that big presence and sound but is, nonetheless, a fair representation of what this band are all about!

Firebomb don't aim for originality, it's all about enjoyment. Imagine a big jam session between members of Alice Cooper, Kiss, Ratt, Ozzy, Wasp, Twisted Sister and perhaps a teeny bit of Danzig and you'll get an idea of what's on the cards! Considering Matman is a big man, he sings in a fairly high register, which can take you by surprise at first and takes a little getting used to. Obviously, I saw them live before hearing the album and he comes across a lot more powerful onstage, but, I'm assuming they didn't have a huge budget for production, so that probably accounts a little for the difference!

Guitarist Kevin Simpson pumps out the riffs and solos with abandon, Matman supplies some thumping bass lines and, on the album, drummer Tim Smith holds everything together with some efficient stick work, although the band are, at present, looking for a permanent replacement! A couple of the songs 'Love Life Loaded' and 'Lonely Highway' don't seem to hit the mark for me, mostly because the vocals and key sound a little too strained but that is just personal opinion and is more than made up for by the remaining tracks!

Overall, Firebomb have released an enjoyable and good album. Where they really excel though is in a live setting and I would like to see their next release do more to capture that power and energy. If they can do that then more people will certainly sit up and take notice!
