'If Carlsberg made Independent Record Labels then they would make Rocksector Records'. I really do think they are the finest Independent the UK has got for Rock & Metal and they've now signed Austrian band Garagedays for the release of their sophomore album 'Passion Of Dirt'! They actually do my job, because Rocksector don't sign dud bands or put out subpar releases so I don't really need to spend much time telling you this a winner!

Garagedays are another band who produce top quality classic Heavy Metal, but this time with the slightest feel of a Heavy Rock underbelly amongst all the riffs and solos and when I say that I mean Motorhead style Heavy Rock! Biggest influence by far though are German Teutonic biggies Accept. Several of the songs here are so like them, 'Never Give Up' being a prime example, I had to check I was listening to the right band. It didn't annoy me though, they've done it so well and with just enough of their own flair that 'Passion Of Dirt' still sounds fresh and exciting!

Vocalist and Rhythm Guitarist Marco Kern has an excellent gritty delivery, in fact it his voice which really bangs the Accept influence home because at times he sounds a complete dead ringer for Mark Tornillo and that is meant as a huge compliment! Rene Auer's lead guitar work is meaty and the solos thoroughly fluid and the rhythm partnership of bassist Dominic Eder & drummer Matthias Mai is a battering ram of heavy metal majesty! Garagedays also know how to mix it up with fast, medium paced and ballads taking centre stage. Song writing is heavy but still full of hooks and melody!

Production is also handled very well and there are a couple of very well known names helping out. Ralph Scheepers (Primal Fear) has not only co-produced the album with Garagedays but also lends his unmistakable voice to three of the tracks (check out 'The Unknown Feeling') and one of my favourite ever guitarists Andy LaRocque (King Diamond) has mixed and mastered 'Passion Of Dirt'. That's a pretty good team isn't it?

Garagedays are just about to head out on a European Tour supporting Jake E Lee's Red Dragon Cartel but I would love them to get over to the UK and said only recently that they would be a superb band to be added to the bill for the upcoming Saxon & Hell tour in November/December 2014. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen but 'Passion Of Dirt' is nonetheless a cracking album and you should very definitely check Garagedays out!
