When I covered the first Degeneration Festival in August this year one of the standout live performances of the weekend was by a band that EVERYONE told me I had to watch, no matter what! Birmingham based (via Menorca, Milan, Barcelona and Los Angeles) Stop Stop! were the band and they blew me away with a fabulous set of party Rock 'N Roll anthems. Their set was high energy, tight as a tight thing, full of humour and the three of them were all lovely guys!

With that in mind I approached 'Join The Party', their second album, with a lot of anticipation and it was well deserved because they have delivered a set of songs bristling with the same energy and talent that permeate their personalities. This is going to be a no bullshit review for a great album!

If you long for the days of good Guns 'N Roses, Spandex, boxes of hairspray, cowbell and Glam then Jacob A.M., Vega and Danny Stix are your men. Kicking off with some wonderful slide guitar, opener 'Lost In The U.K' kicks the remnants of The Sunset Strip in your face, forces you to pull on your, now too tight, cowboy boots, hide the bald patch with an attempt at back combing your hair, shove a pair of socks down the front of your jeans and drink Jack Daniels straight from the bottle!!

Stop Stop! know how to Rock, and party, without entering the out and out parody of Steel Panther. This is fabulous stuff and brings to mind all the great things to remember about the 1980's through rose tinted glasses (believe me it wasn't all brilliant) and if you want that same feeling then buy this album and go see Stop Stop! live (they gig everywhere).

'Love Machine' is an uptempo gem (sounding like Rage mixed with Van Halen) that does exactly what it says in the title, the riff to 'Join The Party' could quite easily sit on Extreme's 'Pornograffiti' album but with Alice Cooper on Vocals, 'Toilet Party' is indeed Steel Panther influenced, 'Coming Home' is Aerosmith jamming with Jimmy Page and my favourite track 'Diane' has a main riff and chorus straight off AC/DC's 'Flick Of The Switch' album I could go on because every song has something to offer and the fifty minutes plus flies by. Jacob has a great gritty Rock Voice and is a very talented bassist, Vega's guitar work is out of the top drawer and Danny's drums swing like Chris Slade on 'Thunderstruck. 'Join The Party' is also very well produced and the whole thing makes you want to erm...Join The Party!

Stop Stop! are one of the highlights of 2014 for me. Please stop, stop (pun intended) spending a fortune going to watch some of the bands of yesteryear puffing their way badly around the stage (cough cough Motley Crue) and spend a fraction of that on this band because the spirit of the 80's are alive and in good hands but Stop Stop! are also perfectly at home in the now. Let's hope 2015 is a huge year for them because, with their talent, they deserve it!
