Iron Knights - Parasite (Single) (2014) Metalbox Recordings -- Running Time 8:16
SCORE 8/10
To coincide with their recent UK mini tour with Def-Con-One, Iron Knights have decided to release a new two track single 'Parasite'. If you read my recent album review for their self-titled second album released in April then you'll remember that I was a little unsure about new vocalist Jamie Gibson, but after witnessing the band live in May and spinning these two songs, and the album more regularly, then I have to say that my fears were a little unfounded and Iron Knights are absolutely moving in the right direction!
The new original song here, the aforementioned 'Parasite' is an absolute barnstormer displaying all the elements that make Iron Knights such an enticing prospect. Great riff and traditional verse leading into a more modern chorus, fast section and excellent soloing. It works a treat. Add to that a cracking cover of Motorhead's 'Snaggletooth' (Drummer Larry Paterson's favourite band) and you've got a great little addition to the Iron Knights catalogue.
'Parasite' the song can be streamed, you can download the single for a small amount or if you go to the Iron Knights shop you can purchase a special CD edition of the two track single for £1. Now that's good value. If you haven't checked out Iron Knights yet then do yourself a favour and get on the case. This single is a great place to start and if you are in the UK then you really have to get out to a gig to witness their power live!
